I figured I would formally introduce myself, even though I have posted here in the past. My name is Andy - I live in the Western suburbs of Chicago. I have 1964 Pontiac GTO - hence my ID.
Last year, a 99 Ford Ranger, standard cab, XLT, 2WD, 3.0L (blown), auto fell into my lap. This was a Texas truck - so no rust - this is rare in the Midwest - LOL.
I decided to turn this into a dedicated drag truck project and started doing my research here. I helped my bro-in-law build his 72 Duster that runs in the low 9s, so I'm ready to build my own car.
I have many questions - right now, I'm looking at a possible stroked 302 swap with a automatic....but am open to anyone's advise. Looking to get into the low 12's - high 11's.
Great site - lots of info - I wish there was a dedicated Drag Racing Forum so I could hit up people who are currently running a Ranger. All I see at the track are S-10s.
Regards,
Andy
