HI BEAM STUCK ON

Hello,

I have been going through my 87 Ranger's lights, getting ready to operate on the road when I thought that my hi beams were selected and that perhaps the little blue instrament panel lamp was out. Turned out that the low beams were on. I fiddled with the switch (turn signal arm combo) when the hi beams came on. I am glad that my hi beams work but I can't get the switch to select low beam.

Should I remove, disassemble, clean, reassemble and reinstall the switch or will I simple need a new one ..(

New one...there fairly cheap, around 40 bucks.
You can try to clean all the electrical connections, but usually when they go, their gone.

Thank you for the response. Never underestimate the value of a spare steering column. They look like crap on the wall in the living room until you need a replacement hi/low beam turn signal arm from an 87 Ranger/BII!!!

I may be able to clean it and restore the function but for now I just popped in the spare.

The crescent shaped metal part that is all crusty and rusted will reluctantly move to the right but once it's there it's happy and stays. Cleaning up, moves in both directions as required.

Dang... you can probably get away with cleaning cylinder heads in the dishwasher too...
