Currently undergoing a heart and brain transplant on my 84 Ranger, after lurking for a while I think this brilliant hive mind may be my only hope of makin it through this alive!

A little more info about the truck and the swap; I’ve got a pretty straight 1984 Ranger, short box regular cab 2x4 that I’ve just taken the old carb’d 2.3l and broken c3 Auto out of this spring, and I’ve just gotten my hands on a good running 95 ranger xl, with a good EFI 2.3l and m50d that I’ve yet to dive into. I’m assuming I’ll have to swap fuel tanks, Dash layouts, steering boxes and columns, and maybe even brake systems. At this point I’m just going to be assuming the worst and peeling the harness completely from the 95 to see what I’m dealing with a little more clearly, at that point there will surely be a flurry of “what’s this connector do?” esque questions. Besides that, I’m just wondering if anyone has attempted a swap like this and had any insight to offer! Any info is helpful, the only tips I’ve gotten so far is to give up, but I want to see this thing live!
Cheers and thanks for letting me join,
-C. D.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

What's the worst that could happen?
Would that be a Gen 1 to a Gen3? Hmmmm.... I am not the smartest person here, but I'm guessing you are in a world of hurt/fun depending on your view of life. Please note my signature:
