Hey guys, real lazy Saturday going on up here in maine. Figured I'd join up.

Been driving rangers for 3 years now. I got my first ranger via trade, and replaced it a year later with one much newer, nicer, and easier to live with.

Fast forward 2 years and here we are!

My trucks a black, rcsb, 2wd, 4cyl, manual. Only options it was purchased with are the beer window and a/c. Getting close to 130k miles. Other than 8 hole Steelies wrapped in 235/75/15s it's completely stock.

Gotta do some work to it in a couple weeks, some necessary for inspection, some for fun. Once I get rolling on that I'll start a "build" thread.

Not sure what you plan to do... but check out the Tech Library. Lots of modifications to look over.

Welcome to TRS...

Thanks for the welcome!

Unfortunately, due to overbearing government regulation.. In this case.. The overly sensitive advace/stabilitrak systems.. The one mod I'd like to do most is apparently more or less impossible (suspension lift).

Other than that, my plans are to purchase some lower offset wheels and put 30x9.5 a/t's or "milder" m/t's on them, remove the lower front valence and fab a sort of secondary tube bumper to act as a recovery point & to hold some auxiliary lights, fab a skidplate, build a steel flatbed for it, install a yukon duragrip and re-gear to 4.11, and convert to outboard mounted rear shocks utilizing kartek's nifty u-bolt plates.

All of this should be happening relatively soon as well, which is exciting after a couple months of not doing anything lol.

Heading to the metal yard in a couple weeks to buy the steel for my bed. Just have to take some rough measurements and figure out what I need.

You may already have a plan for a flatbed... but check out this one. Starts on post #19... it may fuel the imagination a bit.

That is nice, I really like the high sides and tailgate but for simplicity and cost I think I'm pretty much going to copy this one I found on the google

That looks pretty nice too. There are a many ways to skin the cat.

I was shocked when I bought steel the last time... sure isn't getting any cheaper!

friendly F.I.Y. your 8.8 rear axle might have the big tubes and outer bearings,,,,but inside the carrier is only 28 splines.
also the shafts are slightly shorter than some previous years.

I'm relatively sure my truck has a 7.5? I thought it was only the 4.0s that got the 8.8

Thanks!
