I doubt this very much.

The VCT systems used by Ford have an operational range of roughly 50 degrees in either direction. Under the most extreme accelerations I have never seen one be commanded to go more than 20 to 25 or so degrees.

OK, you're more familiar with Ford's systems than I am. I still think there's a reason beyond being cheap, though I don't know why they slip.

We'll. I won't argue that I know the best answer to this. But we do know the following;

Friction fit is not doing the job.

Timing sets have been keyed for many years and that does work in cars.

Today's machining and manufacturing technologies can handle very precise machining and assembly of keyed assemblies.

Variable cam timing technologies should be able to work around any miniscule errors IF they are introduced by the keyed assembly.

So, I believe the original premise of this thread stands. Politely stated; "Ford. You have a problem here. Fix it!"

Not really.

Nobody is going to have the engine in their 2010 car with 150k miles replaced with a Ford engine.

If anything it is to sell more cars.

But I still bet it holds better than a single key. Best would be multiple keys or splines but... bean counters.

Bottom line is we all need to go back to 400CID+ big blocks topped off by a 4bbl carb and backed by a 4 speed with a creeper low.

Ford/GM Trucks peaked in the late 70s, leveled off from the 80s into the 90s, and ford went to total shit in 97 and GM in 99. Dodge stayed pretty true till 2001.

NO!!!!! You are NOT listening. When I had my '91 Ranger, most of the time it sat in the driveway, unless I needed a truck. Why? Because I preferred to drive the car (which ever car I had at the time). The car was more comfortable, especially on long trips. It handled better. And, it got better gas mileage. That's why Ford's newer trucks have cushy bucket seats, a nice stereo, a smaller engine that makes decent power, IFS, four doors, etc. Because they sell. Why do they sell? Because people want a truck that handles well, can haul the family, and gets decent gas mileage.

As for your last paragraph, I find it HIGHLY offensive. How DARE you call me that just because I don't want your fuel guzzling tank of a truck!! And you have NO RIGHT to tell me what I should buy!!

I have a 185k 2002 F-150 in my driveway. If I could I would rather have a new 2002 than a new 2020, it’s been a dang good truck for the 15 years I have had it.

After a certain point you just gotta roll your eyes and keep scrolling.
