My first assignment at truck engineering was electrical service engineer for the GMT 400. The store we bought was part of the original 7 stores Caesars open in Chicago. It was store number 3... the first 2 didn't make it so we actually owned the oldest Little Caesars in the state... it also is in Cook (Crook) county.

Enough about all that... maybe someday we will share stories around a campfire in the north woods of Michigan.

I would love to sit around a bonfire and talk about anything GUY related. (Dirt bikes, cars, trucks, jeeps, guns, building and fabricating STUFF, bourbon ETC.) Between being a crusty old curmudgeon, living in a rural area. losing my job about 3 years ago and covid. I am pretty socially isolated. I need more male camaraderie.

IDK much of the history of my uncles’ partnerships in Illinois, Georgia and wherever else they were. He is long gone from LC and retired from a CE-whatever position at PetSmart. I just know his first store was in Lake Orion and I worked there right after high school. He had to fire me. its kind of indicative of my life’s career generally work someplace for 3-4 years before they piss me off or I piss them off. I am now prematurely retired and having fun spending as little as possible.

The only thing I can remember for sure in working on GMT 400 stuff was designing a new fixture to weld the seam on the top front of the box. They were having a problem with the old design. My machine welded the seam shown in pink.

I didn't do any sheet metal... always electrical or powertrain positions.

I hope to buy something up there next year...

I will also be limited on the bank roll for a couple years (more like forever)... will get better when SS and my pension starts coming in. I figured I would try to do something to make a few bucks. Tying flies and selling off some collectibles and wheeling dealing in general. It will be a big change but I hope to do a nice garden and grow a portion of what we eat.... freezer full of venison and locally caught fish.

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Why would you weld it in pink?
