2.9l V6 Ford ranger stx 89. Been leaking coolant and oil. Mostly leaking in driver side below power steering pump. Some coolant lost. No chocolate milk oil or white smoke from tailpipe except after just getting up to temp. Smells like gas .

I know it looks bad, but I see dirt stuck to a lot of those leaks. That means they are very slow and nothing really to worry about. If you get a puddle on the ground when you park it, then worry about that. But all that dirty looking mess is not a serious oil leak.

Keep an eye on your coolant level. If it keeps getting low, then yes you have a serious leak to find. Or if it leaves a puddle of coolant on the ground.

Your truck is getting on to 24 years old. Looks like it has had a lot of use. Minor seepage is going to be part of it. If you do not want it to leak at all and look like a new truck, you will have to pull the engine, clean it all up, and replace all the gaskets and reseal the engine.

P.S. Nothing wrong with going around with a 1/4 drive ratchet and long extension, and tightening some of the bolts on the engine. This would be a 1/4 drive ratchet and tightened very little. If you crank on the cover and pan bolts, you can cause a bigger leak by bending the sheetmetal.

The picture you posted in your other thread clearly showed (atleast it looked like in the pic) greenish yellow snot. Which is the calling card of coolant getting in your oil...which you also stated you had lost coolant.

Its your truck...do as you please, but fishing around for someone to give you the answer you want, not the answer you need is going to do you and your truck zero good

It's a white glob and I think that's from either when my pressure pusher sensor went it was a rainy day and when I did a oil change I used synthetic oil and rislone oil additive and Lucas oil stabilizer. When I pull the dipstick it shows milky and is less milky the second time I check it .

I still think you should have it checked. A 2.9 losing coolant with discolored oil is rarely a good sign

I was looking at another post from someone in a older chat on here and had similar issues and was the intake manifold gasket.

Thats a possibility. But 2.9s crack heads 10:1 over intake gaskets

Not necessarily. Usually replace the heads is first option. But need to evaluate the rest of the engine before proceeding.

You can get new cylinder heads for $360 each on ebay. That's what I did with the ranger I had. But like was said, my engine made no noises and burned no oil between oil changes, so it was a good engine.

The longer you run it with coolant in the oil the higher the chance of needing more then just heads.

Coolant eats crank bearings like candy

Stuff I'm looking up seems like a mix of things. Like manifold gasket and water pump needing replaced and thermostat and maybe my heater too.

Have you thought about just taking it to a reputable mechanic and paying him a little for his time to look at it?

Or... you could keep searching
