Ok guys I'm having problems checking the fuel pressure on my 97 exp 4.o sohc. It has a problem with startup most times when I'm starting as I have to crank it over to build fp till it starts. Or I can cycle ign 3 times to purge fp and it will always start right off. The issue I have is when I screw my fp gauge to the port it doesn't go all the way down to press the schrader valve to check the pressure. Do they make a longer schader or can a person shim the valve up from the seat it screws into? It does the same thing on my 02 F-350 V-10 when checking fp as well.

Sounds like it's more of a problem with your gauge then the port on either of you vehicles.

Your correct, but a person can't order just the hose with the screw on adapter and quick disconnect without buying a complete gauge set. All the other adapters work on other vehicles except the ford adapter. The schader valves set down in the hole too far for the tab to depress the schader once screwed on. I can loosen the schader to get a pressure reading but it leaks all over the place. That's why I was wondering if they make a valve that has a taller stem on it?

Have you brought this up with the supplier of your pressure tester? Maybe they will send you a new one?

Can you put a little piece of scrap on top of the Schrader valve then screw on the tester?

I'll try that or I was thinking about trying to take the tapered gasket or plastic o ring off another shrader valve and doubling it up to shim the shrader up so it will make contact with the gauge. Thanks for all your help
