HELP! My project shifted directions, need advice

I have a '91 ford explorer, 4.0,5spd,4dr. I did a SOA swap in the rear and I have installed 4'' drop brackets with 4'' skyjacker coils and extended the radius arms in front. It is sitting on 34x15x10.5 ltb's on 15x8 steel rims. The plan WAS to get 4.56 gears and lockers for the d35 and 8.8 and be happy, BUT I happened to have stumbled on a narrowed d44 set up for coil springs with 3/4 ton outers and 4.10 gears.

So now Im going to be doing a solid axle swap, but i wont get to use my tires because now im going to be 8 lug and need a 16.5 rim..

So i guess my questions are...What coil springs/buckets do i use? should i keep the 4.10 gears in the d44 and the (upcoming) d60 or should i change them? Is my master cylinder powerful enough to support the big dual piston brak calipers and the big massive drums in the back?i dont want to go over a 35'' tire, this vehicle needs to be streetable, the initial goal in mind when i started the build was ultimate hunting rig, that means it sees the road and sometimes the highway before it sees the hunting area..

so what do i do now?:icon_confused:

why specifically do you need a 16.5 rim? rims and tires for them aren't as easy to come by and typically run a little on the expensive side. not to mention most don't hold a bead too well if you run your tire pressure down into the single digits.

you can get 16" 8-lug wheels and I recommend you do so, the selection of available tires and rims SUCKS for 16.5 compared to 16"

an older f350 brake master cylinder is a bolt in swap for yours. that will be enough to stop those brakes. and you will NEED to regear, truck is going to be a dog with the added weight and less than stock like gearing.

All these brand new f250 and f 350's with the custom wheels have to be sending their stock wheels somewhere, Look for a set with tires, buy them cheap, sell thetires to offset the cost.

ok, so my axle got delivered today:yahoo: it was originally out of a 79 bronco that was narrowed and had 3/4ton outers installed on it, the guy i bought it from was pretty sure that i could run 15's with a little bit of grinding on the brake caliper..right now the axle has 4.10s, i would have to regear to run 34's? also the radius arms were included, what do coil retainer do i use to hold the coil spring in? can i still use my explorer lift coils or do i have to use 78-79 fullsize coils??


as far as what am i doing with my ifs lift, steering, axles and radius arms, im keeping them because im aquiring a ranger and im just going to throw all this stuff under it..

also what year f350 master cylinder am i looking for? would an f250 work as well? do i need the booster or just the master cylinder??
