Something must have been misread.

2006 code F is :F 5.9 I-6 Diesel Cummins 230/520

That's a medium duty truck option.

Just for reference 2004 code F is: 7.3L Turbo V-8 Diesel Navistar 250 - 275
for light trucks or the same 5.9 for medium duty.

When the label was printed the E's lower line was missing, if possible look at the metal plate in lower drivers side corner of windshield

Both are "R45", Ranger super cab 4x4 4door(5th, 6th and 7th digits)
Only 2 engines were offered in 2006 Ranger 4x4s, 3.0l OHV and 4.0l SOHC

VIN is E for 4.0l SOHC, 8th digit

VIN is U or V for 3.0l

So misprint, you will be fine with the swap

I appreciate your knowledge. Every junk yard I asked give me a different answer and all said it wouldn't swap one even told me it had to.be an 04 engine but looking at the 2 engines I couldn't see a difference considering I have an 06 engine with 80,000 miles I didn't want to buy a junk yard engine thanks again

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
the injectors and ecm and fuel system change up somewhere between 03 and 05... 07 we just swap the entire induction and have got away with it...as far as i know. there are differences.....the heads change...like they did with the ohv.
