Alright I appreciate your help guys. Heading to Autozone now. This seems like a BB pretty straightforward procedure so I’ll let you guys know what I find once I get her open

well I have the cover off now but I seem to have an issue. Last night I put in a new abs sensor and it took a chunk out of it pretty much instantly and I haven’t found that chunk yet and I don’t want to continue without getting that chunk out. Here’s some pics of the sensor last night, and what I’ve found today:

Did you find anything broken in there? Roll it around a couple times... there is surely a chipped tooth or two.

That lube was way overdue...

As for the piece of the sensor... it is just plastic and probably got ground up.

Take a small pry bar or a large screw driver and GENTLY pry upward right about where I put that red X. I'm betting it moves up and down.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
The missing piece of plastic might be in one of the axle tubes headed for s wheel bearing. If this was mine, i would remove the wheels and axle shafts and thoroughly clean the whole axle housing and differential. You also still need to find put what is hitting the sensor. This axle has quite a problem.

Based on the picture of the first sensor I'd say the tone ring hit it. That points to carrier bearings.

Also judging by the look of the lube... seems to have some metallic particulates in it. Worn carrier bearings and the diff being allowed to move would certainly cause this too. I'm not sure of the sensor to tone ring air gap.. but it isn't very much.

I don't know the spec on that one (probably was never published since it isn't adjustable, and very hard to measure) but the ones I do know are far smaller than your average spark plug gap.

there was absolutely no play in it at all. Also all the teeth were there. I think I will pull the axles tomorrow and see what’s going on in there just to play things safe.

Wow, I would have bet just about anything that carrier bearing was shot allowing the carrier to move up and down.

Maybe try a slightly bigger bar... or a little less gentle.

Something in there isn't right...

Just found out my girlfriend set the parking brake as the truck is on ramps. Could that have locked it in place? I can see how it could but I can also see how it wouldn’t.

The parking brake would just lock the ends of the axles. It shouldn't play any part in if there is any movement of the carrier due to worn bearings. As an idea, you could try having someone turn a wheel while you watch the carrier move and then repeat on the other side to see if anything does anything but turn.

I also echo making sure there is on pieces in the axle tubes. While you are at it, I might be a good idea to drop the drive shaft and check for any play in the pinion bearings as a preventative maintenance measure. It won't have any bearing on fixing your issue but based on the look of the residual oil in your axle, a fluid change was long over due and the pinion bearings could be worn as a result. Better to find out now instead of putting it all back together and find out you have other issues.
