Hi All,

Well I'm new to the ranger family. Recently I bought a 1993 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0 manual with 150k original miles. So far I am in love! I bought knowing what was wrong with it, that basically only being that I need to replace the fuel filler neck assy. So that will be my weekend project. I'm excited to be able to read up from everyone's posts and get ideas/tips/tricks on maintaining the truck!

Have a fantastic day!

Welcome to TRS April~!

That is a good project to do on a weekend...removing the box is as easy as most people say...with the right amount of penetrating oil and a bit of patience...and maybe some elbow grease...

Only problem with that job is once you get the box off you may find other things you want to clean up before putting it back together.

If you do...search for the user name CVAR and see what he did to his frame...and also check out the build thread by ADSM08 where he completely tears down a first generation Ranger frame (1983-1988 was Gen I). Your Ranger is Gen III of course...but the frames are surprisingly similar with only a few modifications up to 1997.

Anyway...enjoy...and post pics if you have time...this crowd loves to see the work done by others.

When I bought my 1999 ranger I had to do the same thing. The bed bolts were rusted and I broke a nice torx bit trying to get them out. I ended up dropping the tank instead. I shopped around for fuel neck and the cheapest place was LMC Truck (imagine that!) by far! LMC wanted $100 and all other parts stores wanted around $200!!
