Needs engine replace $2100 plus $150 in misc. (2 low compression on one side and at least 2 others on other side.)Not going to replace heads $1600 not Guarantee the bottom end won't have issues.

hope the rest of your Ranger is in good shape. that's a big chunk of money to put in an 18 year old truck.

It is ! He has got to learn either way , I'm not made of money. It's a responsibility to take care of what he's got. Brand new or not.

1st replacement engine was a bust, getting another. I know it's alot of money to be putting in an 02' but if he can't take care of this what's the "Sense" of buying him a newer truck. Kids gotta learn, my parents helped me but didn't do it for me!

Got the newer motor in , runs good. Current tires 31-10.5-15 thinking of down sizing to 235-75-15 even with new motor truck struggling to get above 70. Same issue as before. Ideas?
