FYI, you can use "self leveling" gutter caulk for these leaks. It holds up to all weather conditions and seeps down as far as it can, into the little cracks and crevices. It even sets up in wet conditions. Just be sure to NOT get the Acrylic stuff, it gets hard and cracks over time.

@dvdswan , you mention sealing around your windshield to stop the leaks - did you also have to do something with the cracked areas at the ends of the gutters? I've been living with not driving the truck in the rain, but son just bought a house and I need to be out in the weather

Yes, I used the sealer on the cracks on the gutters as well.

Yes it is. The bed is only 4' long. I cut out 14" in front of the tire to add the KC and since the 2 dr. pathy 1/4s were used I lost 10" behind the tire. But I gained a 2nd gas tank.

Thanks @Ranger850, I think I have an unopened tube of that stuff in the garage if it hasn't solidified. Do I have to grind out the cracks in the factory goop in the gutters or is it possible to get enough into the cracks as-is to do the job?
I had a guy at a window shop help me get the windshield trim of and he said whatever I do, don't use silicone - said it would promote rust?

@dvdswan, were you able to get your old brake gasket to seal with the screw fix, or did you have to buy a new one?

Reused the gasket. I used the sealer around the light frame as well.

Some silicones do have a acidic base to them that can cause corrosion. They have two types now, acetoxy cure which has the acid, and neutral cure which doesn't.

I would clean as much loose debris as possible before putting anything in there. Silicone will not last as long as the stuff I mentioned. When it (silicone) reaches it's solid state, it expands and contracts and can pull away from the metal. The self leveling really never gets to a solid state and doesn't detach from whatever it's on, as easy as the silicone.

Another problem with silicone is, once cured, nothing will stick to it. Not even more silicone. Makes repairs a problem.

and a lot of it will collect mold, unless you get the special " anti mold" formula, which also has it's limitations
