I expect to see the internal rib structure. That's what I want to see so I know where I can mount things.
Just screw through the roof and silicone the holes… you should be fine.

Put enough stuff up there and you'll never know it doesn't have a headliner. LOL Roofing screws do come with a nice rubber washer...
Seriously though. I wonder how much weight is too much?

The roof structure has to meet some pretty tough requirements to help protect you in a rollover. Strength to hold a gmrs or ham radio, auxilliary radio speaker, auxiliary switch bank and different in-cab lighting shouldn't even be close to "too heavy".

It’s a Ranger, you would assume it could hold at least as much weight as a minivan….

Somebody needs to test this with a junk truck. Zip tie cinder blocks to the internal ridges until it collapses. FOR SCIENCE!

you can also get tons of fabric options at walmart. we did my son's 01 jeep cherokee headliner with some felt looking stuff from walmart and 3m spray adhesive. its still in there because the guy who bought it from us a few years back lives on the next street and i talk to him every once in a while, so i get to see the inside when he stops by

I'm really not interested in recovering it again unless I have to reinstall it.

Reminds me of this:
Really considering the top was all cut open for the safari roof and that there was a 10 ton dinosaur bouncing on it... it probably held up better in the movie than it would have in real life.

Everything that happened in Jurassic Park was 100% accurate. Except for small details, like the title. Because the T-Rex was a different era.

Well, I pulled the headliner out yesterday. I'm surprised that there is full paint coverage up there. I wasn't as gentle as I needed to be. So there is minor damage to the headliner. It's going to stay "removed". Dome light got damaged, too. But that's ok. I have other plans. Mounted a remote speaker to use with the GRMS radio. And i have other ideas for the overhead area. Pictures will eventually be in my build thread.
