Deengineer until it is how Blue Oval should have sold it!!
There were a few companies that made headers for the 2.8l, a few more than the 2.9l.

PaceSetter comes to mind. If I remember correctly the 2.6l had the same siamees exhaust port layout and could also be used.

You need to retain the cats for legal reasons.

Also, bigger pipes does not equal better performance. Going too big will cost you power.

when it comes to emissions my county the truck is registered in does not do emissions.

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
We don’t discuss removing cats here. It’s against federal law in all 50 states, even if your jurisdiction doesn’t check/care/know.
Feel free to continue the conversation about headers and the rest of your exhaust system.

No. Loud pipes piss people off.
Especially when you have a cranky grandchild that you finally got to sleep for a nap, and then he goes by with his straight pipes and wakes him back up.

Edelbrock made the 'tubular exhaust system' headers for years, but I don't know how long it's been since they stopped. Could be a decade or more.

Guy a few doors down works on motorcycles out of his garage. In the summer he likes to go tearing up and down the street right about my kids' bed time.

Every night I hear him do that I fantasize about sitting out in the front yard with the deer rifle as he goes by.

He's on a motorcycle, wouldn't a banana peel be just as effective?
