Coming in second just makes you the first loser!
I am putting a 302 in my 2003 Ranger and it has the GT40 non-P heads. I did some searching but can't find a straight answer that is 100%! Can someone please tell me if I still need the TM or OBX headers due to clearance issues or can I use regular (Mustang Shorty) headers? All I am 100% certain of is that the spark plug angle on the GT40P heads prevent regular headers from fitting. But what about frame and steering shaft clearance? Can anyone give me a 100% sure answer as to whether or not I need them or can I use the shorty"s?

I am pretty sure you will still need TMH or OBX for the 03 model. The spark plug angle isn't so much the issue as clearance for the headers. I have seen people work the steering shaft and lift the motor with spaces on the plates. But when you get right down to it the two available options for headers is the fastest way around the issue.

I believe your right! I went thru the thread mentioned above and it mostly deals with earlier models, not 98+. I saw they were on sale again ($473 shipped to my door) so I went ahead and ordered a set. I'll post some pics once they are on.

That is a fair price. You will be fine with those and the regular custom engine plates everyone uses.
