ok, seriously, how the **** are you supposed to get a puller on this thing?

Tried a gear puller (on the back, it broke the balancer when it slipped off - no, im not replacing it, I hope it detonates this sh*theap of an engine), no success. No success with hammer, prybar, or hitting it from behind either.

Who the **** designs a harmonic balancer with no ****ing puller holes?!?!

Ford seems to think it falls off. Instructions literally just say "Remove bolt, remove damper hub".

Lol you didn't say you couldn't get it off when you sent me the pic. I thought you were just complaining about the lip broke off.

Theres a slot big enough to stick a large screwdriver behind the tone ring to the left, stick it in there and pry while whacking it on the side with a brass hammer. Always works for me.

You gotta vibrate it while you pull it, that's the key. Don't just wack or tug you gotta whack while tugging. Pull it, whack it, pull it whack it soon it achieve full release... ok sorry I'm done.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Uh, the pulley bolt is out, right? I pulled one on a 90 2.3 years ago and the bolt was the hard part; I should have heated it. The rest was easy. The write-up on it is still here on the site.

Finding your response is a lot easier when what you typed lands outside of the quote tags.

Wait. Aren’t you the guy with access to “extremely energetic materials”? Just pack some behind it and push the detonate button.

If it ain't broke, break it.
Or just keep breaking pieces off til it's all gone.

Don't tempt me. This is its last chance today. If not, we're going to find out if the electronics on a 1996 2.3 will run a 2.5.

I have never found a gasoline engine that I have hated as much as this one. The only thing worse that I've ever put my hands on his a Perkins 4 cylinder diesel marine motor. And even then, it's a close call.

Well. Found the problem.

Going to guess that keyway is annihilated.

Better yet, the center bolt bent from the puller.

Anyone have a 2.5 laying around they want to trade for a high five and a case of beer?

False alarm, just a ton of rust.

Still going to need a balancer and now a balancer bolt.

**** you, Henry.

I’ve got a 28oz Windsor balancer w/ a 36-1 tooth reluctor wheel and a 94-95 Cobra crank pulley... If you want to build a 392 stroker w/ EDIS.

You rust belt guys...

I think the only crank pulley I've had stuck was from a too long crank bolt that broke the key eventually... I've had the timing belt pulleys get STUCK before which is way much less fun since they're apparently hardened for some reason (they have a rubber belt, why are they hard?), a drill bit wouldn't touch the thing, I think I ended up taking the crankshaft out to gain a little extra room and might have used a dremel and a bunch of cutoff wheels to cut the dang thing off... but that engine was apparently in a fire or something with the outer pulley off and a bunch of rust in the timing pulley...

So, final update.... went to hang the new timing belt, and could not quite line up the timing marks.
