Electric fork lifts are a lot more finicky to operate. Especially if you are doing anything more then moving pallets around.

???? Maybe just ones you've operated. I've had very good experiences with electric forklifts. And as a maintenance tech, most of my forklift use is for positioning parts during machine assembly and disassembly.

I’ve used a few Crown electric lifts for exactly the same thing. The controls seem a lot more touchy, on or off. when compared to a propane forklift, you don’t have all the power right away.

Straight hydro is hard to beat. .. if air over or electric over hydro is the comparable.

Most electric forklifts use the same hydraulic pump as their IC engine counterpart. They just use an electric motor to power the pump instead of a power take off on the IC motor.

I hadn't touched a forklift in... twenty years? Until yesterday, when I had to move one out of my way at the shop I was using to do some maintenance on the Camry. The owner has a giant electric forklift and texted me basic info on the controls. It was very easy to maneuver around the equipment in the shop and not touchy at all.

Having driven a few, I prefer electric lifts. Yes they are touchy, but at least you don't have to hold the clutch and rev them to get enough power to lift a load.

I've never driven a forklift with a clutch, except maybe an old tele-handler years ago. I've driven electric, gas, propane, diesel and hydrogen powered forklifts. All the ones with engines had automatic or hydrostatic transmissions. Just choose forward or reverse and push the accelerator.

I say clutch. Really was more like neutral, brake, and rev. Except for the old mold change lift. Thing had the same v8 that was used in a Scout, a 4spd on the column, and no brakes.
