ok, i've been up one side of the internet and down the other, and even called the ford dealership, with no answers...
i've got a buddy with a wrecked f-150, built 09/98, with axle code h9, which from what i can tell is a 3.88 8.8 l/s but, no one seems to know what spline count it is, logic tells me it's an f-150, so it must be 31, but everything i can find says "ford used the 31 spline in everything v8 (4.6) and bigger" but this has the 4.2 (or whatever it was) v6 in it... it's 2wd, and auto...
is this actually a 31 spline or is it 28? any way to figure it out without crawling under it? i'm a little layed up after a motorcycle accident, and trying to find parts to fix my destroyed rear diff (most likely need gears)
my plan is that i'm going to pull it, grab some new 4.10's toss it into my truck and drive with that till i save some money for the locker i want, then use the new carrier for the locker, if my torsen is in good shape, and it's only the r&p that's destroyed, i'll sell it. after all, the torsen was replaced about 25,000 km ago
also, what are those above diffs worth, if they are both in good condition?
