Have I got the solution for you:
Day One:
Change rusty shocks on 94 Ranger
1. Crawl under and wiggle to position to reach shock
Yoga instructor gives you 10 points for technique
2. Wrench on 1st bolt - pull till it really hurts
CrossFit instructor tells you to "keep it up" on 7 more to go.
3, Crawl in and out from under truck repeatedly - wrong size socket, forgot light , rag whatever
Bodypump instructor explains how to hurt yourself more if you bang your head on the way out.

and this can just go on and on and on and on

I feel you pain... I did the front shocks on my 97 a few weeks ago. like yours, original to the truck and with 192k on them wasn't as bad as Ithought it would be. Need to do the rears... going to wait until I get a helper and yank the bed. need to change the filler neck anyways, and now that I am near a half century in age, crawling under the truck is getting harder to do lol

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Crawling under is easy. Getting back out and standing up is the hard part. Getting old isn't for wimps. If you can't handle it, just quit aging.

The worst thing I can think of was wrangling my NP205 into the truck. 130lbs of lopsided cast iron with no good way hold it.

It was the worst three hour ordeal ever.

worst for me was the steering box. only 35 lbs, but I had to hold it up with one hand and try to line it up with at least one bolt hole in the frame and start the bolt... pain in the arse. and it was very awkward to hold while bolting it up

Couple weeks ago I took a couple days off to get started on my shop build, dealt with 40 80lb bags of concrete on Thursday, 13 more on Friday, with help of one friend and the wife got 13 out of 14 of the 6x6 posts stuck into the holes on Saturday with 4 of them tamped in with gravel, rolled out of bed hurting on Sunday around 11am and I think got two more posts in and put in 5 more 80 pound bags of concrete... Somewhere in there I had time to trap 4 gophers and shoot another... went to work to relax and I think mostly recovered around Wednesday... I'm not 25 anymore... I already have a 2 post lift purchased for the shop...

My credo
Crossed threads are tight threads.
replacing an underground pool skimmer line is a great workout. Neat exercise machines like a jackhammer, pick, shovels, and buckets of dirt/rocks...

I must have appeared to be really enjoying my workout, because next thing I know my buddy is working the jackhammer, and I'm enjoying a beer!

I wonder if that ever happens at the gym lol your workout gets taken over because it looks so fun.
