Gwaii quick question that's a little off topic. On your tarp shop, how do you attach the tarps/plastic to the frame? Do you stretch it tight and secure on the edges, or secure it to each stud? What did you attach with?

I've got one of the Harbor Freight shed in a box deals that the cover finally came apart on. The frame is still good and should be sturdy once a few screws are added to tie the poles together better. I can't see throwing it away. Picked up a large tarp to stretch over it to use as a "temporary" carport to park my lawnmowers and motorcycle under out of the weather. Just not sure about the best way to attach the tarp.

A shop will be coming this year, but got to clear off a little property before that can happen. Fortunately show isn't an issue here, just wind and rain, so a temporary shelter should suffice.

I used 6 mil poly on my 2 x4 framed shelter. I uses lathe and screws after stapling the poly tight.

Gwaii quick question that's a little off topic. On your tarp shop, how do you attach the tarps/plastic to the frame? Do you stretch it tight and secure on the edges, or secure it to each stud? What did you attach with?
It's just stretched tight and stapled at the edges for the top, edges and studs for the walls.I covered the walls first, then lapped the top over the top edges of the walls a bit then folded the edge under to form a drip edge.
Where I am wind is the biggest concern,so making sure there was nothing for the wind to catch was imperative. This meant lapping seams and getting the staples close together and within 3/4'' of the edge of the sheet.
Tarps have a bit more strength, but catch the wind so I used the tarp as support then overlaid with 6mil poly. It's smooth enough that the wind won't catch it and while snow is not usually a big issue here, what we did get would slide off easily.Just make sure it's pulled drum-tight,this will also give strength to the structural frame as a stressed skin.
The poly is available in a 20x100' roll so roof seams can be eliminated on most sheds that would be build in this method. Also, lining the inside with tarp or poly will help with strength and reduce condensation buildup.

Mine lasted about 8 years,I just took it down this past winter to make room for landscaping changes to the property. Now that I own the place a more permanent structure will be built once the house is closer to completion.

Hope this helps:icon_cheers:

Hey Bobby...long time,etc.

The old girl's seen better days but it's all original.Flathead six under the hood, military tags on the dash,24v electrical system and such. She don't go fast, but she starts every time....though I had to play with it a bit to get some rumbles from the pipes.

It's a '51 M37,and while I figure I'll take care of some structural issues I kinda like the weathered look so I don't see any fancy paintwork going on any time soon.
