truck is a 93 4.0 4x4 5 speed. I bought the truck in october with a bad 5 speed. the truck sat until the beginning of feb until I had the spare cash for a 5 speed. We traveled 7 hours round trip to get a trans. here is where things go bad got the new trans installed and then the slave starts leaking (was new) pulled the trans back out and put another new one in. fired the truck up and took it up the road about 4 miles round trip. truck ran great and shifted fine. I went back out a couple hours later and fired it up and it had 0 oil pressure and had a clatter. I checked the oil and it was fine but it had a fram filter and I have had 2 or 3 of them be bad in the past so I changed the oil and filter and still no oil pressure not the gauge or sending unit either. grrrr this truck has me frustrated I am hoping it is something simple and not having to do an oil pump

Simple test is to pull out/off the oil sender or filter, disconnect coil(you want a NO START for sure), and crank engine, no oil = no oil pump.

1993 is a bit early for the Cam synchronizer on the 4.0l, and they were usually only on Calif. emissions engines, pre '95.
These were in what would be the distributor hole in the top rear of the block behind intake(4.0l never had a distributor).
If no synchronizer then the oil pump drive is in there, same setup as the old distributors on V engines, shaft has a gear driven by the cam gear and lower socket/slot that the oil pump drive fits into, if that has somehow failed then no oil pump.
You can pull it out and see if gear is still attached, not free spinning, also rig up a drill drive to see if you can get oil pump to spit out some oil thru filter or sender opening.

Because there is no history for the engine it could be a clogged up pickup screen, but would still require pulling the pan.

I know the previous owner and he was very picky on his vehicles so I highly doubt a plugged pickup

Pull the oil pump drive and try running the pump with a drill. The rod is a 1/4" hex, so you can use a 1/4 socket on the drive rod. That lets you check the pump itself without spinning the engine. If you get no oil flow it's pump time.

On an unrelated note, is the extension housing from the old trans available? I am in need of one for an M5OD.
