My credo
The perfect is the enemy of the good.
Nice, all hardwood, and the guy makes sure it will fit length in my small stove.
Interesting thing about this is he has 28 yrs welding experience and has experience making tubular bumpers, winch carriers, all kinds of parts and fixes for trucks. He used to work for the rail car mfg before they closed he says he has over 20k hrs behind-the mask welding time and he knew exactly what I was talking about with reinforced mounts, cap the ends of the tubes, etc. He's done it.
He said for the rear buy the hitch it should be bolt on and he can make the bumper to whatever spec I want and it will be bolt-on.
I asked him if frame mount hitch would be sturdy to winch or have someone pull me and he said they are sturdy you can drag the truck sideways with it and it won't hurt the frame.
Pretty cool since it's a lot easier to work with someone local and he could make it however I want. Doesn't necessarily have to be tubular bumper, just, strudy, but I kind of like them.
Here's the wood

Happy to see work stay super local as I wish everything would stay stateside, unfortunately in a world of Amazon and Walmart that is a hard fight. That being said I got Affordable Off Road bumpers both front and rear for my BII build (that hopefully will be on some trails on your side of Afton before too long!) and I LOVE the bumpers. Company was GREAT made in PA I asked to change design from their standard that had no issues even charged me less!!! Had them powder coated locally and they are exactly what I want. Might want to check them out, not tubular though but WAY cheaper than Duff and IMO I wouldn't give Duff another penny of my money...

Here are mine, the front was changed from spec the rear is for a 93+ ranger but fit with very little mod. And they offer the rear less tire carrier. I think I was $1400 shipped and got it all within 2 weeks.

Does the tire carrier swing out? I'm trying to puzzle out if that's enough hinge to support it, but maybe I'm looking at it wrong.

Gms last bad ass trucks for sure, even with their few issues. With how easy they are to upgrade with brand new gear too.. still kickin ass. If I ever need a one ton... it'll be a square.

Id love a late 70's to mid 80's 3+3 dually with a 454/4sp.

Thanks on tire carrier. I see it held hanging out there, just doesn't seem like there's enough hinge size to do that, but I see it so it must work.
Nice Wranglers, I assume you like them since you have them.

Guy with truck told me before he knew this, that the parking brake cable when taut runs across the driveshaft which you have to have turning to run the pto for the hydraulic and it literally cut the driveshaft in two which he welded back together now uses chock to hold the truck. This sounds bizarre, is such a thing possible, and why would it ever be made this way?

Replace the 454 with the newer 8.1 and you'd be in business, them bastards almost have a diesels torque curve. Easier swap than most too.

my wrangler bumper looks very similar to that one on the b2 and the hinge holds fine with the small 32" tire i have on the wrangler. the latch side rattles like a snake though. i hate that part of the back bumper

Yes mine swings out as well on 2 tapered bearings I have a 31 6 ply on an 8" steelie on it and it seems ok. Bumper isn't finished fully fastening yet, does have a little play in the carrier fwd/back movement when fastened but im happy
