Have been telling friends this past week that my good friend ( 1997 Ranger xlt extended cab) was not sick a day in its long life, then suffered a massive fatal heart attack on the freeway on new years eve. The most amazing, reliable vehicle I have ever owned. Bought her for my son to use as a first vehicle over 15 years ago with 70k on the clock. A few months later, he totaled my Grand Cherokee so I started driving the Ranger. Well, in 335.000 miles the only thing I ever replaced outside of regular maintenance was an alternator at around 275k. That is it. She still has original clutch ( !! ), starter, fuel pump, exhaust...…( I consider the 2 water pumps replaced with 2nd and 3rd timing belts as maintenance). AMAZING truck that always got 23-25 mpg and really never burned any oil. Just picked up a sweet 05 Edge 2wd in great shape to replace her and love this one too. Anyway, see you all around...
Joe

Welcome to TRS, and that says a lot 300k+ on an older model then replace it with a newer one, great job. Love the original 80's and 90's Rangers, can't say anything about the 2000's till end of US production models, never been in one let alone driven one. Can't go wrong with a Ranger, great compact pickups that still have the ability to do chores when asked.
