Turning idle screw half turn???

Hey guys...

My truck once warmed up has been idling around 500 rpm's. It idles nice and smooth, but my problem is when I have my aux lights or fogs on with the headlights and come to a stop the power drops. If I give it just a little bit of gas and idle the engine up around 800 or so it's fine. Tonight I couldn't take it anymore so I turned the idle screw up a half turn and now, once warm, it idles around 800-900 and I have no more power drop issues.

My question is: will it negatively effect anything by turning the idle screw up a half turn?

BTW, I have replaced the Idle Control Valve, cleaned the MAF, no codes and no vacuum leaks. Like I said, though it idled low, it still was a smooth idle.

You will use ever so slightly more gas if you let it sit there idling for a LONG time. Honestly with that amount of change you will probably never notice it though. Other then that nothing at all.

Thanks for the replies guys... Sorry, I have been really busy.

It seems to be doing fine. I know what you mean by idling, but the longest I have the engine just idling is at a stop light, or in a drive-thru... :) So I think it will be ok.

No vacuum leaks, knock on wood... :) I had a bad vacuum leak the first part of this year. It took me forever to narrow it down, but once I found it, the engine ran great and has been running great since.

personally I woulda kept the 500 rpm, it means you'll get better gas mileage :p
