Does anyone have a few pictures of a Gibson single (behind tire) installed on a 93 or newer truck? I'm curious if the tailpipe is long enough to make it out from under the bed without the chrome tip bolted on.

The tail pipe is long enough without the chrome tip. I used to remove the chrome tip when I went off-road to keep it from getting damaged. I will take pictures later for you. It is raining right now.

Awesome! I hate bolt on tips, so this is good news

Here you go. You can see the end of the tail pipe inside the chrome tip. Actually, it is a polished stainless steel tip, not chrome. It has held up very well over 21 years, but it is a little dirty after driving in the rain..

Perfect! This is exactly what I needed to see. You have had the same exhaust under there for over 20 years? That's good to hear too.lol I'm tired of aluminized junk lasting only a year two under my daily. Figured I'd bite the bullet and buy something stainless this time. You know.....nothing like putting a brand new stainless exhaust under a truck with 300K on the odometer.

My credo
"220, 221, whatever it takes."
I put a Gibson on my Sport Trac when it was practically new. I ended up cutting a little off the tailpipe because even with the tip slid back as far as it would go it stuck out to far for my taste. Be advised the Gibson is kind of loud. Mine was the aluminized which lasted 7 years and got a hole so I replaced it with a Flowmaster DBX that is a little quieter.

Im okay with a little louder, my little 2.3 will only be screaming through it for a few more months....hoping to have the 5.0 swap done this summer.

Yes, Gibson exhaust is louder than a stock exhaust, but I don't think it loud. Many people wanting a loud exhaust would not consider Gibson. I think my Gibson exhaust has gotten a little louder over the 21 years of use but I still don't consider it loud.

Everything finally showed up last week and I was able to get it installed.

I ditched the saddle/u bolt style clamps and used stainless lap joint band clamps for all the connections.

The fit is great besides I did have to reshape the rear hanger since it wanted to slide out and rub the spare tire bracket after a few miles.

Little disappointed in how short the tailpipe is on my kit.lol. I was hoping it would be another 2" or so, but it's long enough to look okay without the tip. Another 20* of bend would bring it out perfect IMO.

Overall I'm happy with it, the 2.3 sounds like my old Civic with this muffler....but it's only temporary before the 5.0 swap.

Anyone interested in the stainless tip that I'm not using?
