God it took me like five minutes to find the new thread button, clearly i've gotten old.

Because today i traded my mustang in on the ultimate in dad-car technology.

Picked me up a 2019 Sport XLT in Magnetic. Could not possibly be more pleased by this vehicle and I know that every time i miss my mustang all i have to do is go drive this thing around the block and I'll be good again.

I'll get some pictures in the morning after the sun comes up.

I think the picture above says it all. Why won’t anyone build a modern”small truck”? I mean the new ranger is nice and all, but it is huge! I guess that is why I am forced to rebuild an old one...........

Unfortunately, there isn’t enough of a demand for them. At least not in the U.S. People complain about how cramped my 2011 is. Sure it’s tight but I don’t see the problem. Then again, I make my living working in confined spaces and don’t have claustrophobia problems.

The picture is misleading... the 2019 is in the foreground which makes it look even bigger, and it shows a Gen 5 SuperCrew and a Gen 4 SuperCab.

Sure the 2019 Ranger is bigger, but when you compare actual dimensions of a 2010 Ranger SuperCab to a 2019 Ranger SuperCab there really isn't that much of a difference. The 2019 Ranger bed is indeed larger which visually makes the truck seem larger.

I know it's me. I just don't like the over-all height, the box floor height, the hair dryer under the hood, the weight, the un-necessarily complicated wiring, the over-all width, the excessive comfort features, etc. I guess I am stuck re-working crap that is ancient history- like me.

I'll agree on "the hair dryer under the hood, the un-necessarily complicated wiring, ..... the excessive comfort features".

For me though... knowing I'm driving a vehicle that has much better safety features makes the other issues acceptable. The big reason we bought our 2019 Ranger was two fold:
1) How horrible other drivers are on the road today (which I of course can do nothing about),
2) I don't want to be in the hospital with head trauma and think "Gee those side curtain air bags sure would have been great".

So I guess Lee Iacocca was wrong. Safety does sell vehicles.

The only think Lee Iacocca ever got right was in his original concept for a minivan he pitched something very similar to an Aerostar with a 460 engine, but Ford shot that down.

A “hair drier” is what us old guys called turbo chargers back in the day. I know it is all on me, but I will never own anything with a turbo on it. There is no replacement for displacement.

Ranger has better towing capacity than all it's competitors, with it's little banger motor. All the competitors have more displacement... the turbo is the replacement for displacement.

I Like Ike is a neat catch phrase too... but Ike has left the building.
