Ok..... Took the ranger out for a drive today in 2x. Couldn't get it going over 35 mph. I didn't do my research and now the engine is screaming to go 35. What gear ratio would you guys suggest for me?
I pulled out the stock axles with 3.73s and now I'm running 33" tires with a 4.10
I love the torque it has now but I can't take it anywhere without trailering it. All I want is 55 mph.

That doesn't sound like a bad ratio for that size tire. What rpm are you doing at 35 mph?

Something defiantly wrong and it's not your gearing, sounds more like 4 low gearing. With 33" and 4.10 gears, you should be turning 2720 rpm's in direct drive at 65 mph, see chart up in tech library.

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
with a 2.9 456 gears may be ideal with 33's on the street and 35's off road.

^^^ I agree. I have 5.13's to put in my b-2 with 35" tires. But the OP's problem isn't what gears but what he's experiencing with what he has.
