GEAR RATIO RPO CODE

Hi

My name is Keith and I have an '89 Bronco II XLT 4x4 w/Manwell. Does anyone know what the gear ratio RPO code would be? I know there are 3 possibilities of ratios and not sure what mine is.

It should be on the door tag and/or axle tag. If you're unlucky like I am, and have neither, you'll have the get a Marti auto report

If there is no drivers door label or metal tag on axle then you can find out by rotating rear drive shaft
Block front tire
Put trans in Neutral, release E-brake
Jack up rear axle so both tires are off the ground
Put a mark on the inside of a tire
Put a mark on drive shaft

Turn drive shaft and watch the tire
If drive shaft turns 3 and 1/2 turns for one full turn of the tire you have a 3.45 ratio
If drive shaft turns 3 and 3/4 turns for one full turn of the tire you have a 3.73 ratio
If drive shaft turns just over 4 turns to one full turn of tire then you have a 4.10 ratio

While the tires are off the ground spin one rear tire and watch the other
If the other tire spins the same direction you have a Limited Slip differential
If the other wheel spins in the opposite direction you have an OPEN differential
