Gear Drive vs. Timing chain?

Just curious...

what are the pro's con's to using a gear drive setup vs a typical timing chain? Just browsing through my new summit catalog and ran across these, never heard of em before so im clueless to them other than the fact that they replace the timing chain and supposedly make noise?? why would you use them? to avoid stretch associated with a chain?

I've ran a gear drive before and this engine I'm building has a noisy gear drive setup. It will make a "whine" at lower rpm. But I like it because it won't stretch like a timing chain. On my 302 I brought the timing chain cover into work and milled flush the nub thats usually protruding between the timing chain and sprockets.

so just have to remove the piece in the timing cover to run the setup? im considering running one, ya know because it sounds more assuring than running the usual timing chain. and the whine is fine, i bet it doesnt compare to the "whine" put out by the supercharger on my car running 12.5lbs of boost

Nevermind; scratch the gear drive idea. I've done some researching an I'm gonna stay away. Just. Gonna. Go with a high quality double roller
