I have a 92 ranger 2wd 3.0 I'm trying to install 7.5 limited slip into the previously open 7.5 . The gears are being changed to 3.73 from 3.45. My current issues. The carrier is far to one side .03 shim on driver while the other side is 1/4 inch on passenger. That's as far as the pinion will let me push to the pass. Feels smooth no binding with hand tight bolts into the race clamps but as soon as it's torqued the gears are locked up. Can you not drop in an lsd 7.5 into a previously open 7.5. Pinion gear has been changed and set. **this is my first time doing anything like this*** so feel free to give me all the information.
Thank you. The carrier and gearing is from an 02 ranger. 2wd

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I would recommend getting a differential rebuild kit. That will have a selection of shim thicknesses so you can locate the carrier properly. It will also have new bearings.

also, how do you know the pinion is set properly? Did you measure pinion depth?
