I have two questions:
Do i have a 21 gallon tank because it is plastic?
Second this has been going on for a while. When i get down to a 1/4 of a tank of gas and I stop at a stop light the engine dies. Why is it doing this?
I have changed the fuel pump so I don't think it is that and I don't think my fuel gauge would be that messed up. When I changed the pump i made sure not to distort the float arm. Is there anything else that could be causing this? It only does it when I come to a stop.

In 1994 Mazda used the 19.6 gallon tank only in trucks that were extended cab(cab plus). If you had a standard sized cab, you got the 17 gallon tank that most rangers had. Based on your sig I don't know which one you have. As to your problem follow the fuel system. You said you replaced the pump. Have you checked the fuel lines for clogs? The fuel rails? Is the truck running rich? ICE engines needs fuel spark and air to go boom so if it's cutting out one of those is getting out of whack.

If your stalling issue only happens below 1/4 tank then the pump has a defect that allows it to start sucking air when the fuel gets low.
