Gas mileage

There has probably been a lot of threads started about this, but here goes another. I took my first trip in my 09 Ranger 4x4 yesterday. It is a 4 litre automatic 4X4. Drove from PEI to Halifax NS, all highway miles and left with a full tank. The Transport Canada rating is 11.3 litres per 100 kms, highway. I have the gas bill in front of me from a fill up in Halifax. 48 litres and the distance is 289 kms. That is over 16 liters per 100 !!!
Is thaty as good as it gets with this truck?

That's terrible you should get way better. My average so far with my b4000 4.0L 4x4 is 13.2L/100km including rush hour commuting. Highway only trips I get mid 11's to mid 12's if I drive nicely. my worst hiway was 14.6 when i was speeding and a lot of passing that included being stuck in Montreal construction for close to an hour. Forsure you should get better than 16

Thats like what I get. But I have a 96 (OHV) and 7 inch lift and 33x12.50 mud tires. I still think/wish I could get better

Mixed highway/ city/ wheeling... I get around 350km to 60 litres. Thats life i guess.

I got a 99 with 33's with the explorer upgrade (front axles and hubs) and I get about 350km to 65L

First trip with an 09, but how many KM's are on the engine? I also have the 4.0 SOHC and I had crappy mileage until I clocked about 50 000 on my truck. My personal best was a pinch of 11 l/100 km. Mind you, I have the 5 speed std. Was shocked to see i got just over 600 km on my trip meter before the gas light kicked on.

im getting over 500km per tank with my 4.0 2wd with 30's and 3.55 gears. thats mostly 80 kmph driving and around town.

your mileage will get better after 30000 kms
