OK so i got me a 98 xlt king cab 3.0 4X4 with 211,354 miles and the trannie has one never had a problem and two never (to my knowledge) been flushed or cleaned in any way. so i guess what I would like to know is what trannie IS in my truck? and then what next? pull the pan and clean the filter? then what? I am looking for proper instructions on an efficient transmission flush. Thanks in advance fellas.

You have a 5R55E trans, it's a 5 speed auto.
I don't know about flushing the tranny other than jiffy-lube wants about a hundred bucks to do it.
I just drop the pan and replace the filter and fill her back up with ATF, been running strong for over 147,xxx miles.

I think it would be the 4R44E in the 3.0L trucks. They only used the 5R55E in the 4.0L trucks to my knowledge.

Your right, I didn't realize it was a 3.0.
