Hello,

I am new to the forum, but I have a 1984 Ranger. I am currently setting it up for strip use and shows. It has a 302 Windsor and is bored .30 over with a cam and new exhaust system. I was wondering if anyone knew a way to make a full carbon fiber body for it so I can shave more weight off. Of course this won't be done for a few years because I am on a budget, but I would like to know if it can be done.

Thank you.

It “can” be done, but unless you invested in bitcoin in 2010, it’ll probably never be in your budget. I’d start with fenders, hood, and doors.

Honestly, you can drop a lot more weight by going with a lighter front suspension. Twin beams and the accompanying crossmembers are really heavy.

My credo
I like to eat.
I have worked in a plant making carbon fiber body panels for Corvette's, Dodge Viper's and other 'Murican badasses. Unfortunately the pressure cooker required to make these panels is a massive investment only specialist companies get into when they can mass produce product.
The production facilities required for such advanced technology, and believe me the way these things are engineered, assembled and fabricated are very complexed, it's not cost effective for a company to make something so specialized for such a nitch market.
We are a cult of junk yard scavenger's, these vehicles we salvage are crushed up every day by the hundreds, maybe thousands.

Check out this guys vids on youtube. You will have to sift thru them because he does a wide range of stuff. There is lots of fiberglass and also carbon fiber and kevlar. These vids are geared to the home mech.
