fuel questions

im swapping a 84 5.0 carb motor into an 89 ranger and im trying to retain the stock fuel sytem.
I need to know what the wires are coming out of the top of the sending unit and how to wire them to a relay?
Can i use the stock lines and then run 1/4" lines to the regulator at the quick disconnects?
Or will i have to run new lines all the way to the regulator?
any help pictures or diagrams would be greatly apreiciated

A carbed system requires a much lower fuel pressure than an EFI system.

The existing lines will work fine.

Using a new fuel pressure regulator?

Not sure on the wire colors, but I believe you'll have a power, ground and sending unit signal, which I beleive is yellow or green

i did the same thing you did, alls i did was put a t fitting in the fuel line to the carb and where the wires come up from the tank i put a switch i believe its the pink with black strip for the power and either the black or the yellow give me you email and ill shoot you the diagrams that i have

Not sure what kind of line connects you have, but my '88 had spring-loks. I found some spring-lok -> 3/8" NPT fittings which is what my adjustable return style regulator was. Found a small connector for the fuel pump power on the driver's side, ran my own relay since I removed the EFI wiring harness. Cheapest would probably be to run an inline low pressure elect pump. It's been said to remove the check valve from the return line in the tank and use that as the fuel feed.

i already have the regulator i just need to know how big a line i should run to it and bake to the take.

In addition to everything else, once you kill power to the computer, you'll also kill power to the fuel pump. You will have to run new wire to the inertia switch to power the pump. The inertia switch is under the carpet on the passenger side floorboard, or at least was on my 89.
