Use a Fuel Pressure regulator(FPR) with return line
Same as fuel injection uses but for a carb you need an FPR that can be adjusted down to under 10PSI, 6-9psi is spec for most carb engines

After 1988, Rangers had electric fuel pumps capable of 80+ PSI, FPRs were used to lower that down to 35psi, the rest of the fuel/pressure was sent back to the gas tank on a Return line
In 1998 FPR was changed to 60psi but still an FPR to limit pressure at the injectors

Your 1993 will have a IN from pump fuel line, and a RETURN fuel line in the engine bay, you can use both on a different FPR, one made for carburetor use

I will be doing something similar but in a different way. My current build will have a wix filter with built in return line from it back to the tank via the existing return line that goes to the tank. (however the electric pump is mounted to frame and not in tank)

they make 2 styles of these filters. cheers

Use it till it dies. Once it dies, you can get an out of tank pump or replace with same pump.

I used intank pump on my bmw when I put a Weber on it. It worked fine with the factory return line and a regulator

Get a good name brand regulator, like Holley, and make sure to put use the return line to demo excess fuel back to the tank.

If you run the pump in just the regulator (dead heading the pump) it will go out fast. I tried that on my wrangler, originally. It died at almost midnight out in the back country roads with the wife and kids asleep in the jeep, of course. Luckily, the pump came back for a short 20 mile use which got us to my parent's house

what do you with intank pump?

on my creation, the box is off, and the tank was redone. as in modified. so i removed the intank pump, and replaced it with a pick up filter and tube. if you leave your pump in place it should work fine. regulate the line after the fuel filter/return line to de-pressure the in to carb. all should be good.

post 54 might help.

cheers
