Hi!
What kills a fuel pressure regulator? '88 2.9l Ranger. Will a failing high pressure fuel pump put undo strain on it? Or clogged injectors? OR, was the part actually I just bought junk and I just need to spring for another one?
I replaced my previously faulty FPR in October, with what I thought was a not garbage piece of equipment. It's now dead. vac line REEKS of gas. Hard start when warm. Intake plenum covered in fuel as well. All the lousy performance.

Really irritated. Don't want to keep throwing parts at the problem. I believed I had the fixed a problem, but now need to make sure there aren't other conditions I'm missing that would cause the future FPR to fail.

Thanks guys.

There are a bunch of junk parts in the system these days.

Have you tried finding a Motorcraft part?

@JerrySab ,

At some point, as these older chasis' parts supplies dry up, we may all need help with this. You could also look for a used complete serviceable Fuel Rail with a working FPR. I have managed to come across a few and I will buy them as sooner or later I may become my best source for these old parts.

When installing them pay particularly care to the "O" rings and the bolt torques.

I've found a few reviews online for from other buyers of these things just crapping the bed after a few months of operations. I just want to make sure there isn't a grossly malfunctioning other thing that is causing the FPR to fail, and I end up going through these things like tissues.
