I'm new to this site and Ford Rangers but just thought that I'd share a recent experience that I've had. I removed the blown 3.0 engine out of my Ranger and sent it to the rebuilder. While removing the engine I came across two quick connections on the fuel line in the engine compartment. Not knowing how they worked, I went to youtube.com and viewed several videos showing how to disconnect them using a special tool available at Napa, ebay.com, etc.. Not being willing to order and wait for the tool, I took a piece of wire, about .093 thick, and curled it around the fuel line getting it close to the same diameter as the connection. After the wire was wrapped around several times, I started to insert it into the connection with a small screwdriver, pushing the spring in the connection out of the way, freeing the fuel line. It was very easy, I did it twice while removing the engine, it only took about 5 minutes each, and it was very inexpensive compared to the $20 tool.
