So when I first got my 2019 ranger I monitored the oil and did my first oil change at 500mi (did myself). At that time I noticed the oil had strong odor of fuel. At the 1,000 mile mark I took to dealer had had them change and I sent an oil sample into blackstone labs. Came back 2.8% fuel dilution. I recently had my oil changed again by dealer (to document) possible issue at 3,000 mark and the results showed 2.5% dilution. The oil level appears to be rising on dipstick!!!! My next oil change I'm going to have deal collect another sample to send to blackstone and measure the amount of oil drained from vehicle. I'll attach my most resent blackstone lab report. Anyone else notice and issue like this?

Please don't wait for the next oil change, go to the dealer now. Gasoline is a lousy lubricant.

Latest update.....
Latest report. Went a little longer this time and changed oil after 1600miles. Another 2.5% fuel dilution. I specifically asked Blackstone how long to go between oil changes (see their reply).

My problem is the service manger says I'm the only one he's heard of with the issue. He checked with Ford on my behalf and like others have been told the problem is due to frequent short trips (I drive 15min to work all city). He also said to go a full 5,000mile on the next oil change - I know others have been told this as well but it freaks me out to do that to my engine when its 2.5-2.8 diluted after only 1,000miles.

I used my last Ford pass points oil change so the next one's on me. I thank all folks with issues for sharing their results and what their dealers are saying. I continue to hope that one of these days my oil test sample will come back within spec......

Really? They are seriously giving you the go ahead to drive the truck and potentially ruin the engine. Blaming fuel in the oil on short trips is bs to me. I don't give a crap how you drive there shouldn't be fuel in the oil at all. Something is wrong causing this. As pointed out in another thread could be o-ring. Like Walt said gasoline is a lousy lubricant. I would get a second and third opinion on this.

I was a service manager for 35 years, I'm baffled by him telling you to drive it with fuel dilution of the oil. Just because Ford hasn't heard of a widespread problem does not mean that there isn't a problem with this one truck. I assume you were given an invoice with his recommendation printed on it?

They should at least look into the issue to make sure this isn't a one off scenario. It's gonna cost them tons of money in the long run if it is ignored. Plus how is Ford supposed to know something is wrong if they are going to kick the symptom/problem to the curb. Are they gonna wait until engines start blowing to remedy the issue.

They might be hoping to kick the can down the road past the warranty expiation date. It might be time to take it to another dealer for a second opinion.

This is my worry. They keep kicking me to the curb until warranty is out. There are two dealers near me including the one I bought it from both are owned by the same company. I love the truck just not this issue with it. The dealer has made copies of all my lab results and supposedly put then in "my file".

I assume that's the dealers file, Ford won't see it unless it's on a warranty claim. If it comes to it, Ford's Customer Relationship Center phone number is 800-392-3673. Did you have any symptoms/problems or is the oil analysis the only concern?

"My file" translates to I dont give a shit about your problems all the way until it's out of warranty. Go to a different dealer even if it's out of your way. Same owner different dealer will keep curb kicking because they have your info from the other one. I hope you have every single piece of documentation with the service managers signature on it.

I first noticed dipstick smelled like gas (I knew its fairly common for DI engines) then later noticed my oil level was actually rising on the dipstick. Truck has not displayed any other symptoms and has never "thrown a code" which was one of the reasons dealer claims nothing is wrong with it and that frequent short trips is the cause.

You get points for checking the oil. If it has enough gas in it to smell it's a problem and I never heard about direct injection having fuel dilution problems. I've had a 16 Ecoboost Escape 4 1/2 years and the oil doesn't smell like gas.

I think I would call Ford and ask them if the results you have are typical.

Just got off the phone with Ford customer care. A very frustrating experience but at least I got a case number. To summarize Ashley (FCC) I should just drive the truck and give no concern to the fuel dilution and that it should quit at approximatley 35,000 miles.
