Just bought a 2000 ranger last week (3.0 manual 4x4 70k) and the check engine light came on. I took it to the dealer and the tech pulled the code and it was 'fuel composition' (asked the service manager but he wasnt sure what code #). The tech checked out Mitchell-On-Demand and a couple of others sources, but couldnt find any information.
They erased the code and so far the light hasnt popped back up again. Anyone know of or have experienced this?

I havent had any drivabilty issues thus far...

though i havnt heard of that specific code...the only thing that comes to mind would be the sensor in your fuel line which signals the PCM the ethanol content of your fuel.

if yours is toast, i happen to have a spare that i might part with.

The dealer couldn't figure out a code?

How do you spell "incompetence?"

You need another dealer (presuming this is warranty work).
