Hi all,

A few months ago I noticed my moms truck had a hard time starting up. It cranked and acted as if there was no gas. When checking the fuel pump it turned out ok but the fuel line was empty; ended up being the check valve in the pump assembly that went south. The assembly goes for big money so I ordered an aluminum fuel check valve to fix it.
As soon it comes and gets installed I will post the outcome, so if anyone has the same issue has an option to fix it.

Should work fine.

I would put it as close to the fuel pump as practical, vs in the engine bay.
If in engine bay the pressure at the injectors will be fine for restart but from the new check valve back to tank the pressure will be 0psi for start up.
Working Injectors will drop the pressure fairly fast so there would be a stumbling or stall a few seconds after startup until fuel pump could build up pressure all the way to fuel rail.

If new check valve was back at say fuel filter area it would work better, IMO

The 2006 system does use up to 75psi fuel pressure so any connections need to be very very tight fitting

It does stall a bit at startup. I have to rock the key 3 times to get the ignition to activate the pump at least 3 times so it gets enough fuel. The valve seller claimed its for high pressure so I hope it wont have any issues. Im planning on putting it next to the fuel filter to avoid removing the bed, but ill check if it can be placed a bit closer to the tank

Its installed and Im glad to inform the truck starts up like new and there are no leaks at all.
I installed it past the fuel filter.

Not working?
I installed it friday afternoon and as of this morning the fuel line was empty. The truck wasnt driven since friday afternoon until this morning. Seems like if i let it sit a whole day it will empty up

Bummer :(

Wondering if turning on the pump for those 2 seconds(Key On) is opening new check valve and causing saved pressure to be lost?
i.e. pressure equalizes as soon as any pressure pushes on back side of check valve

I guess you would need a fuel pressure gauge to see if pressure is holding at the injectors over the 24hours

Could be.
My mom drove it for a couple hours running grocery shopping and it started up fine every time. It was just the morning start.

Well..........

New used to mean "tested and working"
New now means "you test it and we will warranty it"

Both valves are getting stuck in the open position, maybe the fuel pressure moves the blocking element so it doesnt close it when fuel comes the opposite way.
Thats what happens when you buy cheap stuff...
Maybe, just maybe installing it horizontally is what causes this so Ill try positioning it vertical

Check valve is just a valve with a spring that holds it closed unless pressure from opposite direction pushes it open, so horizontal/vertical placement wouldn't matter

Fuel pump>>>>>>>>>>>check valve>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>fuel rail

If pressure is being lost at fuel pump end then check valve should work fine
If pressure is being lost at fuel rail end then check valve would just let the pressure/fuel flow towards fuel rail, like it is suppose to do

Not sure of the spring pressure but can you blow thru the check valve one way but not the other way?
Lungs can only generate about 2psi

Yeah I could. I dont think its the regulator messing up. The valve was stuck open when I removed it, i smacked it against the frame and it closed up.
Cheap valves arenr helping at all and installing them one following the other so if one gets stuck the other one still works would be too crappy
