Hello all. I'm replacing the front wheel bearings/hubs in my '98 4wd. The passenger side hub was bone dry and rusty, and it appears to me that the oil seal/main seal (not sure of the official name) has failed. I've never worked on these before and am having a hard time finding useful info in the service manual. I found a youtube video where the guy says just pull the seal out the front and push the new one in over the axle stub (to the correct depth), but he doesn't go into more detail. What I'm wondering is how the seal "connects" to the axle stub. The axle stub just sorta flops around on this side, whereas on the drivers side it was held in place at the seal. I've already closed up the driver's side, but will probably re-open it to compare unless someone can give me some insight. When looking at the the replacement seals, they don't appear to be much different from the one still in the knuckle. Appreciate the help. I tried searching through the forum but wasn't able to find anything specific to this seal.
