Front End Bearing replacement

I have a 1995 Ford Ranger 4X4 and need to replace the front bearings and rotors, and perhaps the spindles. In going online to buy parts, there seems to be conflicting information on what parts to buy. Where can I get the correct parts numbers in order to order the correct spindle, Rotor and bearings? Thanks.

What’s confusing about it? Do you have a Dana 35 TTB axle? Or the Dana35 SLA axle? I’m pretty sure you’ll have the TTB. I think the SLA was introduced in 96.

I just looked on Rock Auto. There are a bunch of choices. Make sure your choice fits all of these conditions;
Front
4x4
Either RABS of 4wheel ABS, depending on what your truck has. ABS is antilock brake system. If you have 4wheel abs, then the rotors will have a tone ring mounted so the ABS system knows how fast that wheel is turning.

choose bearings for the corresponding type of rotor that you need. On my 93, the inner and outer wheel bearings are the same. So I order 4 of the same part number.

Don’t forget inner wheel bearing seals, 1 for each wheel. There is no outer seal. The hub does the outer seals job.

I wouldn’t order spindles unless you disassemble everything and find out yours are damaged.

How would I know which I have? And going to Rock Auto was more confusing than some of the other sites I have been to. I just want to be able to order the "correct" rotors and bearing sets for my vehicle. I have entered the vin number when asked.

In that case you need the rotors that are described as "ABS Sensors on all 4 Wheels" If there is just a brake hose and no wiring harness, you can get the rotors that say "ABS Sensors on 2 of 4 Wheels." Pick a brand, doesn't really matter.

TIMKEN SET37 is what you need for bearings. You need 4 of them. Don't bother with any other brand. Most of them are junk. National & SKF would be my second choice.

Your new rotors will probably come with races installed, you can remove them and install the Timken ones. They will be much higher quality than whatever junk comes with the rotors.

I'll bet part of the problem is that the D28 is still listed as possibility and parts suppliers don't seem to understand the differences between the original D28 and the hybrid.

Hey @Robrietow06, I just did this on my '97 STX. Here's what you need from RockAuto:

TIMKEN​	SET37	Wheel Bearing	$ 12.44​	$ 0.00​	4​	$ 49.76​
TIMKEN​	4250	Wheel Seal	$ 4.40​	$ 0.00​	2​	$ 8.80​

I bought the Bendix rotors and got a full pad and hardware kit. I also ordered from C&M Gearworks the 3-piece thrust washer set up (couldn't find it on RockAuto). Bought the 4-pin socket on Amazon. There are a lot of YouTube videos that list the parts and are good to watch. Takes a few hours.
