Front diff fluid

Ok guys..somebody throw me a bone...ive looked over my front diff in my 2001 4wheel drive to check the fluid...and i cant seem to find a place to check it...just a small tube that looks as if a hose should be attached to it on top of it...thanks for yalls help..ive learned so much here.

You check it at the fill plug. Take the plug out, if fluid runs out there is too much. It you can't stick your pinky in and touch it there isn't enough. Adjust as needed.

Drivers side of housing


The fitting at the top should have a hose on it, and a small filter on the end of that hose, its the Vent, end of hose needs to be higher than any expected water crossing height :)

end of hose needs to be higher than any expected water crossing height :)
And should be U-shaped like a snorkel for when it gets deeper than expected.
