Hello All,

I just started doing the install of a torsen diff on the front of my 2009 Ranger. I make it a habit to always try to have any and all parts before I start a project. Most everything seems in order except one little snag. When ordering parts on Rockauto it listed the following bearings:

National S268 for front left
National 5707 for front right

I just got the axle out and for the life of me can't figure where these fit. I know this is a total noob problem but it is driving me nuts. Any help would be appreciated.

Look at the exploded view at the bottom of this page.

I think they will be #16, called out as "stub shaft bearings". They don't actually go inside the diff, they are most likely accessed by removing the axle seals, but not having taken one of the IFS diffs apart, and not having one in front of my to play with I am not 100% sure.

check the Fordparts.com site. shows where the bearings go.
the long tube has a needle bearing in the end of it, pass side. the drivers side has an axle roller bearing, I think its the same bearing as a 28 spline rear axle bearing. the inner CVs go into each of those bearings.

I have a front diff housing out in the garage, but its late, cold, dark,,,and I'm lazy.
Yukon makes a master install kit for that diff, kit BK M35-IFS. it does not contain the right side needle bearing.

So when I opened it up and took the seals off this is what I found. It looks like Ford changed things at some point. Fortunately everything looked good.

Yep, still 8 ring gear bolts, pretty much everything else seems the same too. The torsen went in fine and should finish it up this week. That's all that matters.

Sooooo there isn't any kind of bearing behind the seal on the passenger side?

You may be able to see it in the first picture, it is similar to the black plastic one in the second picture.
