Hey All,

Just joined the site. A couple weekends ago I got a free '93 Ranger (extended cab, v6 4.0, 4wd) from my girlfriend's brother. He was going to donate the thing (the smell was pretty bad inside, and it had brake problems), but it ran and I asked if he'd rather donate it to me. He said sure! Drove it the 2+ hours from CT to NH with no real problems (one of the calipers was stuck-ish but it still worked). Got it home, and literally the next day I hopped in and the brake pedal went to the floor (busted brake line), and then it wouldn't start! Haha, you get what you pay for.

Regardless, it's a fun project car and I've already got the front brake system completely redone (calipers, rotors, lines), then have to figure out why it won't start. The guy who gave it to me said he suspected the fuel pump was bad, because a few times it didn't start for him, but then he'd crank and crank and eventually it would run. Doesn't sound like a fuel pump to me, as the engine ran fine the entire ride up and it idled smoothly. I replaced the fuel pump relay just for s**ts and giggles, but it'll be fun figuring out exactly what the problem is.

Already used the site for a few good tips, figured I'd join in the fun and introduce myself. And if anyone in the southern NH area has some seats that will fit a '93 ranger, I'm in the market (had to take out basically teh entire interior, it stank to high heaven).

Brakes are working like a charm, and getting it started was a simple matter of resetting the fuel pump cutoff under the dash. Anyone know why that would randomly trip?

How about some pics. of all the truck? Did you drive home with your head out the window? Looks a whole lot cleaner.

My brother has all the before and afters of the exterior, but here's one from the day I got it

And yes, I did drive basically with my head out the window. It was in the high 40's and I had every window wide open, it smelled so bad. Haha!

Also lucky I made it home at all, given the state of the brakes.

Good looking truck. It was free.....keep us posted on what you do to it. Look at the harness that plugs on the inertia switch. You might wind up replacing the switch if it keeps tripping.
