I have an issue with the cost of new vehicles. The black and red Jeep I posted was $80k. Just the base model 4-door Wrangler is $40k. I think a new FX4 Ranger is $40k+. I can't see spending that much money for a vehicle and then having to shell out a few thousand more to make it trail ready for my cross country adventures. If I'm going to spend $40k, then I want it to be a turn key ready adventure vehicle.

You can barely get a 4wd of any breed for $40k let alone something offroad oriented.

I just sunk a bunch of $$ in my dd because it is becoming rapidly apparent I will not be getting rid of it any time soon.

A Supercrew would be fun... not so much for $700+ a month.

While I tend to agree completely with you... it seems that the trend of doing so isn't going away anytime soon. Either you buy it from the dealer upfitted... or you buy a base model and get busy in the garage and give your credit card a workout. The costs are discouraging to me also... but it doesn't slow down the trend. $80k is out of the question for me...

I sure hope when my time comes... my wife has hit big on the lottery... or when the Bronco configurator opens and I can build one the way I want it... it's well short of the $80k mark. We will see when the time comes.

Mine was about $43 with the FX4 package. Like stated, it still needs a little work to make it trail ready. Thankfully, it’s pretty capable off the sales floor. Better than I expected to be honest, even with the street oriented all terrains it comes with.

Prices for new trucks and SUVs is over the top for sure. Everything I looked at was priced similarly to what I got.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

What did you buy for $43?

An FX4 sticker.
Yeah, pretty much. My 2011 was about $23k when I bought it. Granted, it was the last year of the original model and they wanted rid of them but still, cost of living prices didn’t increase that much in 8 years.
