Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here goes...

My 95 Ranger has a hybrid Vehicle Speed Sensor that is electronic, but still uses gears. With my current gears and tire size, I can't get the right gear to calibrate my speedo; Ford doesn't make a 22 tooth gear.

I was searching and found the Ford Racing Speedo Calibration Tool for Mustangs. I wondered if it would work since it's cheaper than other electronic calibration tools. I called a local Ford Dealership, and found out that both a 95 Mustang V6 5spd and My 95 2.3 5spd, both use the same exact VSS part number.

So here is where I could use some input. Will that Speedo Calibration Tool work since both the same year Mustang and Ranger have the same VSS? Or, will the computer in the Ranger handle the VSS info differently than the Mustang?

Any help would be appreciated... :)

Dunno about the calibrator, but my brother couldn't adjust his hybrid speedo in his '97 F-150 with the regular Ford computer (he works at a dealership)

I'm thinking that only vehicles with the speedo signal coming from the RABS sensor or OSS Sensor can be programmed with a computer. Any vehicle that has a VSS sensor with a gear has to either have the gear changed to a higher or lower tooth count, or has to have an aftermarket calibration tool hooked up in line with the VSS sensor.

I think that's correct...
